Quality and Curricula in Early Childhood Education and Care edited by Leah Aursand, Stine Kolstad Jensen, Cecilie Langholm and Camilla Vibe Lindgaard
The 2022 CIDREE conference was organised by the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training, and held in Oslo. Over 70 people from 16 countries attended in person, and many more viewed part or all of the conference streaming online.
There were three inspiring keynote speakers in plenary sessions: Henrik Zachrisson from the University of Oslo spoke about the important role that ECEC plays in children’s development, Elin Eriksen Ødegaard presented about collaborative exploration as a signature pedagogy for the early years, and Jon Kaurel from the Union of Education Norway shared highlights about the Nordic ECEC model and traditions. Throughout the day, short film clips featuring different aspects of the Norwegian approach to kindergartens were also shared.
A main feature of the conference was the launch of the 2022 CIDREE Yearbook, featuring contributions by 13 CIDREE countries. Six of these countries presented their chapters at the conference, and many interesting conversations and discussions were had during breaks for mingling and reflection.
