Target groups

Mission of the institution
To promote the quality of pre-primary, primary and secondary education and competitiveness of Bosnia and Herzegovina education systems at the international level through developing common core curricula, establishing learning standards, monitoring and evaluating learning achievements, developing adult education and lifelong learning, and participating in the development of the qualification framework.

Key functions

  • Developing and evaluating implementation of common core curricula in pre-primary, primary and secondary education;
  • Defining, establishing, upgrading and monitoring learning standards in pre-primary, primary and secondary education; 
  • Evaluating learning achievements in pre-primary, primary and secondary education; 
  • Planning and implementing international research, comparative studies, as well as developmental and research programs and projects; 
  • Developing and monitoring the common core curricula and modular curricula in secondary vocational education; 
  • Implementing the qualification framework; 
  • Developing occupational and qualification standards for adult education and lifelong learning. 

Relevant Educational Priorities/Projects

  • Evaluating implementation of the new common core curricula based on the learning outcome; 
  • Upgrading existing and establishing new learning standards;
  • Developing occupational and qualification standards. 

Relevant Organizational Priorities/Projects

  • Developing strategies for dissemination of TIMSS and ICILS results throughout all the ministries of education; 
  • Preparing strategies for negotiating the next PISA cycle; 
  • Strengthening connections and cooperation between ERASMUS+ teams of the Agency.
